Wishes, Dreams & Centuries, the song, was written in the middle of the night just before recording this album in December 2017. I woke up, perplexed about my youngest son not believing in wishes anymore. The night before he said to me, “Mom, no matter how hard I wish, it just doesn’t work. I wished upon a star, blew out all the candles on my cake, found a four-leaf clover and blew all the dandelion seeds away but it didn’t bring Pop back.” (My children’s grandfather, who they were close to, had passed away) What could I do but write a song that one day may resonate with him when he gets older and this got me thinking about my own life and how I’ve always wished and dreamed for people, things and circumstances to manifest themselves and how I want the same for my children. Much of the ‘landscape of my life’ has emerged from my dreams …to have a family and to create music and so much more. I’m not able to tell my children how things will turn out and why our loved ones die. But I can tell them to believe in themselves and their dreams and create the best landscape of their life as I do in my own.

Lyrics

Wishes, Dreams & Centuries

Like a painter with a brush
Or a poet with a rhyme
A potter with some clay
A builder of design
I’m going to make a landscape of my life
With lots of hills twists and turns
Dead-ends bridges burned
Wide-open sky

With a canvas full of colour
Some of it will be all black
Fancy words most absurd
Grammar it will lack
I’ll relish in the cracks and lines
Kick the gravel dig some holes
Cry with friends bare my soul
Swim in moon light

Wishes like dreams can last for centuries
They’ll carry me through to the other side
One way or another if it’s meant to be
They have a way of coming true
I know I wished for you I wished for you

When I can’t make out your face
And the colors fade
Take me to a gentle stream
Or any quiet place
Where I can see the lows and highs
Stuck in mud on the path
The brightest light will guide me back
To your smile

Wishes like dreams can last for centuries
They’ll carry me through to the other side
One way or another if it’s meant to be
They have a way of coming true
I know I wished for you I wished for you

Don’t ever lose the stars in your eyes
They’ll help you through the darkest of nights

Here I am on the mountain
Higher than the trees
Valley upon valley
As far as I can see
Grateful for the time of my life
Holding you holding hands
Holding all the love I can
Oh love of mine
